Taking Care of Thinning Hair
10 Quick Tips by Hélène Clauderer

  1

Many factors can cause the hair to thin: sensitiveness to androgen, stress, lack of iron, thyroid imbalance… Before treating the condition, it is thus necessary to find its cause diagnosisClauderer In-Depth Hair Diagnosis

When the cause is a lack of iron, or a thyroid imbalance, the hair can regain its initial calibre, and stop falling, if the condition is quickly indentified and properly treated on a medical level. A complementary ad hoc hair treatment is however recommended in order to help the hair regain its normal girth.

  3

If the problem is caused by sensitivity to androgen hormones (as in 90% of cases), the hair’s thinning does not always come along with abnormal hair loss. We usually only become aware of the problem when the hair becomes more difficult to comb or brush. That is when you should react, because the condition never stops on its own. Without a treatment, regrowths will become increasingly thinner with each new cycle.

  4

In order to understand the effectiveness of a hair treatment, you should know that a thinning hair corresponds, under the scalp, to a shrunk hair follicle and root. Those are thus the places where a local subcutaneous treatment should be applied. Here is the Method we recommend:

  5

First, regularly massage your scalp in order to oxygenate the collagen located around the hair follicles. This will lead to a double benefit: you create a better environment for their development, and you make them more receptive to the active treatment they are about to receive.

  6

Then, through in-depth treatments, remove the cellular dejections that stock up around the roots and slow their full activity. Meanwhile, bring them all the nutrients (protein, vitamin and anti-androgen minerals) they need in order to produce hair with regular girth again.

  7

As far as your actual hair goes, preserve it until the treatment acts on the strength and thickness of the regrowing hair. For instance, avoid sprays or gels applied on a daily basis. They can seem useful on thinned hair, but in the long term, they will slim down its keratin.

  8

As for hair loss, keep a close eye on your diet! In order to strengthen your hair, protein, iron, zinc and vitamin B must necessarily be part of your daily diet.

  9

Take vitamin treatments, with oral intake. They can boost the hair’s strength and thickness as it grows back. They are most effective when they act in synergy with a local treatment.

Final tip, for women using contraceptives: choose yours carefully, as androgen-oriented pills can contribute to the thinning of your hair linkThe Hair and Contraception
