Why are organic active vegetable ingredients more effective against hair loss?
Overview In order to fight hair loss, why use synthetic products when organic ones are healthier and more effective?
No one will contest the fact that a natural vegetable-based substance is healthier. However, most people do not realise that the same product can also be more effective. And yet, that is exactly the case. We have taken eucalyptus, camphor and baicalein as examples.
We are more and more cautious when it comes to products based on synthetic ingredients. Indeed, nothing proves that a synthetic molecule does not have undiscovered properties.
Explanation. Every molecule is always surrounded by about a hundred other micro-molecules, the long term effect of which is not necessarily always identified. Those micro sections can leave unperceivable particles, sometimes barely traceable. Throughout the years, their accumulation could trigger problems in our system and explain, for instance, the current surge in cancers. As we know, any change in the DNA of a substance can lead to a genetic mutation, which in turn will have a significant impact on our health. Let’s not forget that cancer is simply the anarchic multiplication of cells.
Example : PEG. PEG are tensio-active synthetic ingredients, widely used for hair lotions, conditioners and treating creams, in order to make them miscible with oil or water. Chemists first make a natural greasy alcohol, ricin, react to a chemical oxide*. They obtain a tensio-active synthetic product of which we do not really know the consequences on the epidermis. However, there is a tensio-active obtained with sugar**, which brings the same benefits, with a totally natural composition and recommended by ECOCERT. At Centre Clauderer, we use that type of tensio-active ingredient because we know it is not at risk of having negative consequences.
In France, it all started with food, and Mad Cow disease in the 1990s. Then, it was the turn of GM, followed by the mysterious bacteria from Germany, to keep the world in doubt. And this is without mentioning the numerous medications that periodically prove out to be dangerous!
Throughout the years, cautiousness towards chemical substances used in our food has spread to cosmetic products used for our body care and hair problems. Nowadays, most consumers prefer to revert to natural products, more wholesome, better for them. For as long, of course, as they are effective.

Natural products are more effective
Natural molecules are also surrounded by micro or nano-molecules. In this case, those ‘secondary’ molecules are even more numerous, by the hundreds. Nature is penny-wise, it uses every substance to transform others, which in turn transform others… that is what metabolism is all about. Nothing is ever lost, everything is used again.
And this infinite variety of metabolites*, the mechanisms of which are far from being all understood, gives natural products a level of performance that synthetic molecules would be able to reproduce. Example of eucalyptus or camphor, two antiseptic products often used in medicine and cosmetics. Scientists have compared a natural eucalyptol molecule with its synthetic copy. They have discovered, without being able to explain why, that the former was twice as effective as the latter. Logical deduction: the natural molecule contains hundreds of small particles, so far undetected, which also contribute to the overall effectiveness of the cleansing product. That is why we use, among other essential oils, 100% natural camphor essential oil in Clauderer Milks, in order to cleanse the hair’s roots and enable them to fully benefit from the strengthening active ingredients that are given to them immediately after (see next paragraph).
Baicalein. It is a medical plant, which has for long been sought after in Asia for its many benefits: anti-aging, anti-oxidant, anti-cancerous… It contains a protein (TERC), which is naturally present in the human body and fights the physiological senescence of chromosomes and stem cell.
We use very pure natural extracts of balcalein, in various anti-hair loss Clauderer Concentrates. The plant acts deep onto the hair follicles. Its protein has a direct impact on the keratinocyte** chromosomes, prevents their premature aging and intensifies the division of keratin’s mother cells into daughter cells. Because this action is the basis of hair formation, it has a direct consequence: the hair develops a considerably stronger structure, is thus better “bound” to the hair follicle, has a longer lasting growth phase (anagen), and gradually stabilises loss.
But baicalein’s action does not stop here. We have also found that there are more regrowths than fallen hair being replaced. Does the TERC protein also have the ability to put back at work follicles that had for long become unproductive and incapable of producing new hair? Nothing proves so in its composition, but everything does in its results.
To be totally complete, baicalein does not act alone. In the composition of Clauderer Concentrates, many other natural active ingredients (essential oils, sulphured protein, vitamin…), selected according to their interaction with each other and purposely proportioned to cause that interaction respond to it in such a way as to form a complex symbioses that makes the final product effective.

Reminder of Clauderer results
Study conducted in May 2011, over 100 users from the new Clauderer all-natural range, during 4 months, and with two hair treatments per week: 86% = End (68%) or significant drop of hair loss
74% = Presence of stronger and more numerous rergrowths
