Prescription hormonal medicine taken orally (1 tablet/day). Composition: finasteride (1 mg) and lactose (110 mg).

Properties
An anti-androgen molecule that partly inhibits the enzyme that causes androgenetic hair loss (5-alpha reductase Type II).

Résults
Slightly superior to those of minoxidil 5. After 1 year, in approximativelly 50% of cases: slowed hair loss, weak to mild regrowing of the hair.

Worth noting: 1) Results are more sensitive in the vertex zone than at the forehead level. 2) As for minoxidil, the Clauderer Treatment, combined with finasteride, makes the regrowing hair thicker and stronger.

Gender. Men exclusively.
Propecia tablets should not be handled by women who are pregnant.

Side effects. Marginal: decrease in libido in 2% of cases. Reversible once the treatment is ended. 

Hélène Clauderer’s opinion. We recommend it for young men (18-35 years old) with starting or mild alopecia and strong family history. But the idea of following a hormonal treatment is not accepted by all men. In parallel, we always recommend a local treatment in order to increase the diameter of the regrowing hair.
