Local treatment. Exists in 2% solution (without prescription) or 5 % solution (with prescription).
Properties
Triggers a synthesis of the VEGF (vascular endothelial growth factor): stimulates the perifollicular blood flow and the formation of hair cells.
Results of the 5% formula
According to the Centre Clauderer experiment:
In 1/3 of cases: mild regrowing of down or thin hair,
In 1/3 of cases: slowed hair loss
In 1/3 of cases: no impact
Worth noting: administered in parallel, the Clauderer Treatment increases the regrowing hair’s thickness and strength.
Gender. Men and Women
Potential side effects. Dry skin, dandruff (pytirisais), rash and scalp itchiness (pruritus). In women, with the 5% formula, we often notice hypertrichosis (excessive hair growth outside of the scalp): that is why dermatologists prefer to prescribe the 2% formula to women.
Hélène Clauderer’s opinion. A restrictive treatment: it must be applied once or twice a day, for life. Stopping it causes major hair loss. We never recommend it for patients with dry or fragile skin. For all patients, its prolonged use requires an adjuvant local treatment to hydrate the scalp and increase the hair’s caliber.
